Improve Basketball Vertical Jumps

The life of an athlete is not an easy one. Self discipline is learned from the very beginning, as any training session you miss can lower your performances. Strong will and hard work can transform your dream of becoming a pro into reality. Every sport has it's specific training exercises on which you have to focus higher, in order to achieve the demanded standards.

If you chose a sport which requires speed and rapid movements you may consider extending your training sets and include more specific exercises, which bring faster results in that particular area. Basketball, soccer and football are the major sport types which focus on speed and rapid movements. In these sports, a certain move at the right time, if missed, can cause the result of losing the whole match.

Plyometric exercises are based on new concepts and are not very popular yet. While some of the top players already use them with success, people with no interests in sports, or even small players didn't ever heard of them. These exercises have a totally different approach than the typical sport workouts we are used to. Rather than concentrating on the muscle, plyometric exercises focus on the nervous system.

Practically, applying plyometric workouts you make certain tissues tougher and prepare nerve cells to execute specific muscle contractions. After repetitive exercises on a precise area, these muscles will make contractions stronger and faster. The target is to achieve the most powerful muscle contraction in the smallest amount of time. In time, a reflex of the muscle is developed which leads to the muscle's highest strength possible to achieve. The power of a muscle can be described as strength turning into speed. This is what plyometric exercises are all about.

Plyometric is a new concept in the modern world of sports. Soon, it will be impossible to equal other player's standards without including these exercises in everyday training. They take little time each day, but must be repeated until natural reflex of maximum power muscle is achieved.
