Soccer Training Tips & Tricks

If you are involved in the sport of soccer, of course you want to work hard and be the best player you can. Even the professional league soccer players have room for improvement. Even the pros have room for improvement and could stand to use new training tips and techniques here and there that will improve their skills. There are a few of these training tips in particular that are sure to help better your game and help you come out as a more skilled player.

Tip 1 - Defending The Ball

One of the best training tips involves shielding the ball and how to do this most effectively. You always want to remember when defending the ball to keep your body between you and your defender. The ball should always be kept in front of you and when your body is used as a barrier it is going to give less chance to the opponent of swiping the ball away from you. By keeping your body as a sort of barrier you have a much better chance of being able to defend and maintain the ball until you pass or go for the goal.

Tip 2 - Freeze Defenders

You should also learn how to freeze your defenders, and this is one of the most important soccer tips for any soccer player to learn. The meaning behind this is that you want to fake as though you are going to kick the ball. Take a long swing back with your foot as though you were going to make a long pass and this is going to stop the defender in his tracks. Of course if they think you are going to pass the ball they want to follow the ball and try to cut it off but the trick is that you are not going to kick it at all.

Tip 3 - The Blind Pass

Instead, after your defender freezes in their tracks, you want to trick them by keeping the ball to yourself and going around them the other way. The blind pass is another great tip soccer players should know. Although you do not want to overdo it and end up using the move too often, it can work perfectly in the right situations. This just means that instead of kicking and passing the ball in the direction that you are actually looking, you would do it the other way.

If you have an opponent coming at you they are going to see where your gaze is what direction you are looking in and assume you are passing there. You always need to be watching in all directions when playing soccer. Of course you will always need to be using your peripheral vision if you want to do the blind passes but it works well. These are all great training tips that are worth bringing to the next game.
