What Makes a Good Celebration Cake?

Today, parties and events are not complete without a celebration cake. This has been the case for many years and it is not very common more than ever as there are now always lots of occasions to celebrate, making cakes one of the highlights of parties. Nowadays, you can hardly find a celebration where a cake is not present. It is always good to make a celebration cake that will be memorable. Important occasions in life ought to be celebrated and taken seriously. There must be a proper celebration to mark that occasion and one of the best ways to do that is to have a celebration cake. Celebration cakes make essential component of any event and remain are always the center of attraction. Whether it is a public celebration or a private party, a properly decorated cake will certainly make the event special.

You could also make a cake which is custom-made to the needs of the celebrant. A way to do this is getting it prepared in various shapes. For instance, it is an excellent idea to prepare the birthday cake of a golf lover in the shape of a golf ball in a golf course. Similarly, the birthday cake of the piano fan could be prepared in the shape of a piano. In the case of girlfriends, married couple or lovers, you could have the celebration cake prepared in the shape of a heart, whereas a wedding could have a shape of the groom carrying the bride in his arms. Also, if the party is to celebrate a child's second year birthday, you could have the celebration in the shape of the figure "2". If the party is to celebrate the birthday if a basketball lover, you could also use the shape showing something like a football, soccer or basketball jersey, player or ball.

There are many ingredients that you could have in your cake. You could prepare a celebration cake containing different types of cheese with all cheeses hand-dipped in an ivory wax, giving an elegant and beautiful thing. Different ingredients could enable you to make chocolate with lemon drizzle, different fillings, coffee cakes with various layers, fruit cakes, sponge cakes and carrot cakes. You may also go further by making the celebration special through other ways, for example golden, ruby and silver anniversary cakes, logos and fashions for sports cakes, cartoon characters on children's cakes and so on.

You only need little creativity to be able to come out with good celebration cakes that your guests would love. The ways through which a celebration cake could be enhanced is to add plenty of sweetener and cream, and to deck the cake using different shaped and colored cherries. Inserting the name of the celebrant on the cake is another excellent idea.

Cupcakes could also be used for celebrations, and in many shapes. Many variations of cupcakes are now very common and you could have the best time with your celebration. It is possible to get grand gourmet cupcakes or even simple chocolate cupcakes which fit a wedding, birthday or any event you are organizing. Although cupcakes are a favourite snack for lovers of cake, they are now being used in many parties as celebration cakes.

How to Feed Your Family Healthier Meals

If you're today's typical "soccer Mom" you may not think you have time to cook a healthy dinner for your family.  You may work outside of the home, or spend the day running numerous household errands, and constantly feel like you are barely keeping your head above water.  It seems there is just no time to go to the grocery store, plan what to eat, be sure you have all the recipe items in the house, and then actually cook a healthy meal.  Another day when you decide you will just order drive-through fast food or order a pizza to get something in everyone's stomach before heading out to the next scheduled practice or lesson.

Stop!  I'm here to tell you, you don't have to feed your kids junk food anymore: You can make a balanced meal at home in a hurry.  You know that fast food is not a good option; that burgers and fries and pizza are giving all of you too much fat, too many calories, and not enough nutrition.  Yet so many Moms see this as their only option because they know they can pick up the food (or call for delivery) and have it on the table in less than 30 minutes. They let the health of their family suffer due to time constraints.  Well, it just takes a bit of a mental adjustment to see that preparing a healthy dinner is not an unattainable feat.

First, get over the idea that you must cook completely from scratch.  This is not an all-or-nothing deal.  It's not, "either pizza with pepperoni or a whole roasted chicken with potatoes that takes three hours".  Make some compromises and consider picking up a roasted chicken from the supermarket.  Then all you have to do is make some quick side dishes, like instant mashed potatoes and frozen broccoli.  Now, then, you have a balanced meal with a fresh wholesome source of protein (that isn't fried), complex carbohydrates (ready in five minutes) and a vegetable (and certainly you realize that frozen veggies are far better than none!)

Second, remember that processed foods are not evil.  They were made to help busy Moms who are precisely in your predicament.  Certainly if you had the time to make fresh mashed sweet potatoes and cut up fresh orange sections, life would be lovely.  But considering what you have been serving for dinner, instant mashed sweet potatoes and canned mandarin oranges make a superb alternative as sides to hamburgers you actually flip yourself when you buy fresh ground chuck that is lower in fat than fast foods.  Another healthy, balanced meal on the table in less than 20 minutes.

Third, realize that if you don't buy all organic you are not poisoning your family.  Maybe it would be nice if you had time to home-grow everything you wanted to eat, or even spend your weekends browsing in the local farmer's market.  But you don't!  Instead of resorting to the worst option (ordering out again and serving very high fat, high sodium, low quality food made by someone else), consider that buying lower fat entrees made by a company that froze them for you will be a healthier meal idea.  You can set a frozen lasagna on the table that just takes pre-heating the oven an hour before dinner and taking it out to eat; you can serve frozen vegetables (or even canned) and a cut up cantaloupe. Voila!  Another balanced meal.   Whatever you serve in your home, you have access to the ingredient labels and you can decide which foods are better than others.  Compare labels to find a lower fat, lower sodium, or lower calorie option to help your kids from becoming overweight before they become adults. When you order something from a restaurant you are ignoring what you don't want to find out you are feeding your family.

I want to encourage you to try another way: If you don't have time to cook from scratch, don't give up!  There are some great compromises between being the happy homemaker and serving take-out every night.  It will be better for your pocketbook and your conscience, not to mention your family's health, if you make some small compromises and find some great alternatives in the grocery store to put a balanced meal on the table.  Remember to look for easy-to-make meals that include some foods pre-cooked and frozen, and others that are ready-to-eat. Foods that come in a box, can, or freezer bag may not be as superior as cooking whole foods from scratch.  But they are a much healthier option than meat and potatoes out of a fryer, served in a bag.  Realizing you are preparing a meal for your family, serving them fruits and vegetables they were not eating before, and having you all sit around a table enjoying a meal together will reap a whole lot of rewards.

A Basic Understanding of Wrenches

For auto repair, you can't get much more basic than a good wrench. If you are going to start building a tool set, you will need a couple different styles of wrenches and all different sizes. When it comes to wrenches you will find that there is a huge variety in them, but you really only need a couple types unless you get into the specialized wrenches.

The one thing that needs to remain consistent is the quality. Inexpensive wrenches are made of a soft metal that can actually bend around nuts causing them to slip off. When they slip off, a few things can happen. First, there is the possibility of rounding off the fastener that you are working on. Obviously we want to avoid that. The second is that after the wrench slips off, the jaws can crack, meaning that you will have to buy a new one. By the time you get done doing that, you will likely have spent more than one high quality wrench would have cost you. The third factor to consider is personal injury. When the wrench slips off, you will likely always end up hitting something hard with your hand, resulting in scrapes and cuts at best, with a broken bone being a realistic fear.

Almost all wrenches are available in standard of SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) size or metric sizes. Typically you should know what type of fasteners the project you are working on typically requires. Most foreign vehicles use metric fasteners while domestic vehicles typically use both SAE and Metric, unless they are older models in which case they will often use SAE almost exclusively. As good practice I tell all beginning do-it-yourselfers to buy both sizes with long and short shafts as you will find that sometimes you need to work in a tight space, and at other times the extra leverage a long wrench provides is required.

Soccer Coaching Tips for the World

Coaching soccer is considered to be rewarding because it allows former players to 'pass on the torch' and help players improve and develop their game. It will also help you to become a better coach in the long run. There are a number of methods that you can follow to improve your coaching techniques.

Carrying out a regular regime that focuses on soccer drills is an excellent way to help players reach their potential. This method has been carried out for a number of years and its results have been observed during the game. Soccer coaches should focus on creating situations that may occur during the course of the game. Regular practice will help players understand how to tackle problems and therefore, win the game. They will know which pass they should make and how they should use it to their advantage.

While coaching soccer and forming drills, it is very important to keep the age group of the players in mind. If you are coaching children below 10, you should not only know how to deal with them and calm them down, but also understand that they are highly enthusiastic.

Soccer coaches in this situation tend to overwork the children and have high expectations from them. However, this can prove to be very frustrating. They should instead focus on how to make the training process fun and ensure that they are motivated and ever ready to work hard. It is unfair on these kids if you expect them to play with the endurance of professional soccer players for 90 minutes straight. If they do not understand certain rules, do not get angry at them and imagine that they have the same grasping power as your players that belong to an older age group.

Another important aspect of coaching soccer is to know how to deal with internal as well as external conflicts that are hampering the performance of the team. External problems may include a troubled home life, general unhappiness or a bad mood whereas internal problems include clashes between players and every-day arguments. The coach should know what signs to look out for so that a problem is solved before it has a chance to become unpleasant.

There are several methods that can be used to help your players learn rules during the training sessions. While some players learn by reading, others learn by doing. Coaches should take players out for games and point out different styles that they can incorporate into their game. Videos are available on the internet as well and by rewinding, pausing and forwarding, players can learn different tricks.

When coaching soccer for kids, every coach should know how to deal with the soccer parents as well. This is because younger children depend on their parents for advice and if there are problems between the coach and the parents on a regular basis, they will be ill-motivated and find it difficult to enjoy the game.

Art Journaling: A Low-Stress Creative Outlet

Simply put, art journaling is creating a journal with pictures. Starting with your thoughts or an image, you create the pages using simple artistic techniques. It's a cousin of scrap-booking, and no formal art or drawing experience is required. Anyone of any age can do this.

We journal because we don't want to forget something, or we want to organize our thoughts, or we need to be creative, and this is a quick and easy way to do all that. A travel journal, for example, keeps all those travel keepsakes in one place. Filling a book with photos of a family reunion together with some personal thoughts on the event is an example of a journal with just one theme, not to mention a cool way to document family history.

To start, work in layers and begin with the backgrounds. Work with the same media and do a bunch of backgrounds all at the same time so you'll have spare pages to work on later.

Begin with a personal photo or cut image from a magazine or junk mail that inspires you. Use found materials, ephemera or photos as a starting point, as in collage, or just drip paint onto a page and move it around to create swirls and puddles. Stamp over your page with purchased stamps or those you make from recycled materials like bubble wrap. Add texture by overlaying tissue paper or thick paint. There is no wrong way to do this and don't stress whether or not your pages are artistic or good enough.

Here are some suggested materials:

Glues. Experiment with a range of glues. Not all are suitable for all grades of paper.
ModPodge (registered trademark). This is a decoupage glue and is good when using heavier pieces like fabric or cardboard. It also seals the surface.
Acrylic Gesso. This gives tooth to a slick surface so that paint can adhere. Gesso can be used for adding texture. Thickly apply the gesso and spread around on the paper surface. Once dry it can be incised with sharp tool.
Pens. Use permanent ink felt tip pens gel pens, and ballpoint pens.
Pencils. Also try colored pencils and watercolor pencils for variety.
Paints. Use acrylic or watercolor paints. You may need to prime your paper with gesso first.
Other materials such as stamps, stencils, and sponges.
Recyclables. For example, vegetable netting or candy wrappers, but they must be clean!

Note: Some of your kitchen tools make good stamps, though once you use them for art, do not use them for food use. Get used tools from garage sales for art use.

Your journal pages

I generally use both sides of the paper, obviously waiting for one side to dry first before using the other side. You can use old books (please not antique!) and gesso the pages first, or draw and paint directly on the pages.

If you're using larger sizes of paper feel free to cut them to whatever size you want, keeping in mind smaller pages are easier to fill and to handle. Especially when traveling.

The edges of your pages can be trimmed using scissors that give a fancy edge, or use a hole punch to create patterns along the edges. You can use a sponge and just touch the page edges with dark paint.

Finished pages can be bound with strong thread, look online for pamphlet binding demos, or punch holes along one edge and tie together with yarn, ribbon or binder rings found in your local office supply store.

This is one of those crafts that can be done anywhere, anytime. Have a go box or bag filled with inexpensive supplies, the kind you find in the school supply section of your local department store. You can work on your journal while waiting in a doctor's office, waiting for a child to get out of soccer practice, and after everyone else has gone to bed and you can't sleep.

Making your own journals doesn't have to cost you a lot of time or money. Just buy your basic supplies and get started!

Baseball Tips for Rookie Coaches - So You're The New Baseball Coach?

So you're the new coach. Ok, now what?

Coaching a team sure seemed like a good idea, maybe even easy...until you started thinking and getting into it deeper. All those players, parents, the draft, practices...and those game decisions...ugh.
Maybe coaching 3rd base might not be so easy...
What were you thinking?

SOLUTIONS:

Rule #1 - Relax, It will work out!

You'll probably even turn out to be good at it.
How do I know? Why would I think this?

Well, first you are searching for information. Websites like ours with articles like this are sure signs you are at the very least trying, instead of sitting on your hands, ducking your head and relying on your Little League experiences from long ago. And because of...

Rule #2 - You will be organized...

And yes, you will have the time to do it. As a matter of fact, there is an article that I strongly urge you to read. It is about how to organize your team and yourself and is titled, "Plan To Succeed."

Please finish this article before you jump there (I'll include the link at the end of this article).

Rule #3 - You will have fun!

Look, the more fun you have, the more fun your kids will have...and yes, the opposite is true.

Personally, I think that some of the best things about youth baseball are the adults! I also think they are some of the worst things about youth baseball. I mean this because as we get older...we tend to forget how to have fun and play games. Life just does that to us. Here we are trying to solve problems on a baseball field like we do at work...UGH!
We get tight, our kids play tight. We say ugly things in the dugout...well, you get the picture...
Let's move on (This lesson either hits the mark or it doesn't).

One final thought (from someone who is privileged to be in baseball for 350 days each year)...
IT'S JUST BASEBALL! BASEBALL IS JUST A GAME!
(It just happens to be the best game ever!)

Rule #4 - You are here for every player!

If you are in this game for any reason other than those kids... every one of them...
GET OUT NOW! (This was paraphrased and stolen from a speech given by a friend, Gordie Gillespie, the winningest coach in college baseball history! He is absolutely correct!)

You will get more joy with that attitude than you can imagine!

Every player who doesn't share your last name is not here for the entertainment and support of you and your son! (You have probably seen it happen).
Coaching your own child is a trick indeed.
I hope you will truly enjoy it (though it can test your mettle). But, I can assure you that embracing an entire team of kids can really give you an idea of how good a coach and person you might be or can be!
Personally, I can tell you that the early influences of my youth coaches are indelibly stamped on me...That's how important you are.

Rule #5 - Winning is important...It is just not everything.

I determined something many years ago.
Take this for what it's worth...

Few 10 year olds have a grasp of the concept of winning!
Half of the 11 year olds have a grasp of the concept of winning!
Almost all 12 year olds have a grasp of the concept of winning!

Every? All? No. I guess I wouldn't include all players on some hot team of 9 year olds who travel the country vying for the many "World Series" out there (how many worlds are there anyway).
Those teams and families have adopted a lifestyle. It's a language spoken at the dinner table. They are probably more the exception than the rule anyway.

You simply need to have a strong grasp of the competitive nature of your league and your team.

Rule #6 - You will be the boredom police.

Looking for a great way to turn a perfectly good baseball player into a soccer player? (God forbid)... BORE HIM!

A young boy begins his day by opening his eyes with a first thought of..."HEY, WHAT'S FUN TODAY!"
And we dare to bore them? Remember my comment on how we tend to want to solve problems in baseball as we do in the office?
They are kids. It's a game...and games are fun...
It's fun OR THEY FIND A GAME THAT IS MORE FUN!

Rule #7 - Ask for help from other parents.
Women are right...Men do not ask for directions. We need to be rock steady and have all the answers...yada, yada!

Personally, I have never had a coach come up to me after a game and ask me anything on how or why I played a situation the way I did! I MEAN NEVER!

WHY? Because this is baseball...and we are guys. We played Little League (20 TO 30 YEARS AGO). We watch Pro Baseball on TV...UGH. What a bad idea to try and teach a group of kids to play the same way the greatest players in the game do.
So, we don't ask...and that cheats our kids.

SOLUTIONS:

Aside from reaching for information such as reading articles such as this and finding videos, books, etc (did you check out our video and book library?)...
Why not incorporate and embrace some of the parents.
Have a parents-only meeting for 10 minutes after one of your very first practices.
Let them know who you are and how you envision the season (in general).

A team mom is worth her weight in the dozen roses you had better buy her at the end of the season.

Make note of the dad(s), hopefully plural, who hang around the fence during practices. Many really want you to ask for their help. They don't want to horn in so it's up to you to ask because they may not!

Some parents are better served as your scorebook keeper instead of your BP (batting practice) pitcher.
Another may be most comfortable helping you set up the dugout and raking and lining the field before games.

Yet others really want to be on the field hitting fungoes or infield.

The bottom line is that I believe that adults play better when they work together...and as a byproduct, you will all be richer for actually developing relationships with your new-found friends.

WARNING: There is one rule I highly recommend...
You are the coach, they are the team's parents.
One guy has the final say so. You, the coach!
This is a no lobbying area, disputes are handled away from the kids and the action and decisions of management (you) are final. There are no politics, just honest decisions made by you...the coach!

Note: Baseball is the greatest game in the world to second-guess!

One Last Important Suggestion Regarding Communication:

Get all of your parent's email addresses and use them for two things:

Communicate - Communicate - Communicate. Not necessarily lengthy, just frequent.

Subscribe all your player's parents (and maybe players, if they are a bit older) to our Baseball Tips Newsletter. It is a quick read 2 times each month. We do not rent or sell their names and just want to supply our 14,680 (at last count) baseball families with some added knowledge and fun.
Of course, they can delete us easily if they so choose. (You can add them individually. The sign-up box is just below our logo on the http://www.baseballtips.com home page).

Rule #8 -Good Teams Practice Well!

Every league is different. Some restrict practice times. Others have limited fields. Some coaches have limited time as well. HAVE A PLAN!
Plan tomorrow's practice today. Plan next week, this week.
Planning is the operative word. I don't think that any drill should take longer than 20 minutes! (OK, excluding BP - more on that later).

TIME ANYTHING & EVERYTHING!

If you will keep a watch, you can get their blood flowing even more. More as in, "OK guys, 10 more minutes, let's do it right. Pick up the pace...Ok, 5 more minutes...Keep it going"...you get the idea.
And it becomes more fun!
The blood is pumping, the kids are focusing. Just be sure to tailor it to your player's age and skill level.

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW!

Teach something new each practice.
As importantly, review and drill a particular skill taught in a previous practice using one of your 20 minute segments.

Quality repetitions are vital and incredibly important!
Too many coaches teach a skill and then next season, they teach it again; once a year...need it or not! If you think about how counter-productive this is, you will never do it...or do it again.

ARMS - ARMS - ARMS!

There are more throwing errors than fielding errors!
It may not sound correct and it is not my opinion...It is a fact!
Teach proper throwing and work on arms every practice.

Have them constantly throwing to or at a target.
(The exception will be when teaching one of your pitchers a new pitch.) You begin by throwing to a tarp, net or fence. The reasoning is that accuracy will not be great until a skill like a new pitch is learned. Accuracy will follow proper mechanics and you can avoid unnecessary shakes in confidence.

THE LAST 10 MINUTES OF PRACTICE IS JUST FUN!
Preferably doing something that requires players to use oxygen. Leave them with their tongues hanging out. I learned this many years after I began coaching.

Many players think baseball is boring...and that is why they leave the sport too soon. They are kids...and kids want to run, play games, have contests, run races, hit balls, etc. You know...fun stuff.

Well, drills can get boring if that's all there is to a practice. But drills are really important, vital lifelines to improvement and success of both player and team...or not!

But let's not forget the fun aspect and the prime reason most kids play. (It is play ball, not work ball, right?)

Get creative!
Here are some of my ideas. (Do not limit yourself to these, got it?)

Relay Races - ½ of team at home plate and ½ at 2nd base with hats on backwards. 1 simple relay race. Then 1 race backwards, then 1 final race for all the marbles, running sideways (or heel to heel side-kicks like basketball teams do....you may have some better variations).

Ball In The Trash Can - Find a trash barrel from the dugout or near the practice field and place it on home plate on its side. Now take your team to a distance where most all players can throw to the target at least on a bounce or two.

Now toss them a short fly ball where they can make like they are the centerfielder throwing the runner out at home. They ooh, aah and cheer on close throws (there are always a bunch of these). I have no idea why but they really like to do this...Go Figure!

Home Run Derby - Find a spot where about ½ or more of the team can hit one over the fence and soft toss 3 per each player (soft toss, also known as flip drills, is the drill our automated Wheeler Dealer machine does automatically. It can be seen on our training aids page if you are still unsure how to do this.) Have a second round, then have a finals. Maybe the player who comes in 2nd gets to go after all the homers. Watch 'em cheer for each other.

Basketball Game - If there's a court or a hoop nearby, simply produce a hidden basketball AFTER dividing them up into teams. Announce a 10 minute game. Watch 'em go. Totally unexpected...and a lot of fun

Water Balloon Toss - Pick a hot day and have a supply of filled baseball-sized water balloons (make sure they are small balloons to begin with so they remain taut). Partner them off in lines (like you do when warming up their arms) with players about 6 to 8 feet apart and with a partner on one row having the balloon.

USE 2 HANDS!

Express to players that in baseball, every ball you can catch with 2 hands should be caught with 2 hands. Also, display how the pinkie fingers of both hands should be near and parallel to each other with hands being parallel and held below the waist.

SOFT HANDS

Explain that all infielders must have soft hands. This begins when both arms are outstretched (elbows are not locked) and then cradled toward the body as the underhand toss comes toward you. Water balloons will require special focus on soft hands to keep from breaking.

READY...GO!

On coaches command...
Player underhand tosses to his partner who catches and holds the balloon. His partner then tosses it back to his partner.

After 2-4 rounds, teams with a full balloon step 2 feet further apart.
Repeat.
Then 2 steps further apart!
Keep going until you have a winner.

Once you have a winner, coaches produce as many extra full balloons as there are coaches and the winning team gets to "blast the coaches." Yes, turn around coach...and do use typical precautions as boys will be boys. (Now you tell me that 10 or 20 years from now those players won't remind you of how much fun that was?!)

It's not all about baseball...but it is all about fun!

Thanks for reading.

Best of luck this season.

Now get out there and Have Some Fun!

Search Out Academic Excellence Scholarships

Youngsters know that they can not get knowledge without hard word and resources. This is an age of competition and if you want to get a doctoral degree then it is essential for you to apply for a scholarship. If you are interested in the doctoral degree then you should have awareness how you can find an academic excellence scholarships.

Whenever you are thinking going for your doctor in biology you have to think about every pound you spend. Getting a PhD degree, like a doctor in biology of specific field is expensive. Whenever you need money for this purpose a scholarship is a best option. You can get money from other sources like student loan but these but these are not free and companies charge interest on these loans. Many students are not interested in academic excellence scholarships because in their opinion scholarships are only for those students who have excellent academic record. But I totally disagree with this concept. Good academic record or high C GPA is not a single requirement for getting a scholarship. Other talents like Athletic ability also consider. There are a lots of scholarships that are available on the basis of ethnicity. But majority of the students are not aware of this fact that there are many scholarships that are based on the ethnicity and language. Those who are interested in the higher education can enjoy this opportunity. However these scholarships are merit based.

Following are the two main categories of scholarships for minority students.
1 Ethnic scholarship
2 Non ethnic scholarships

You can increase your academic excellence scholarships search ability by following the guidelines given below.

1 You should for more than one scholarship
2 Search academic excellence scholarship from various sources.
3 Start in junior year of school.
4 Apply before deadline.
5 Write a thriller essay.
6 If an essay is required than you can submit an essay than you can submit an essay that you have already submitted in other college.
7 Look for academic excellence scholarships offer by many multinational organizations because these contain heavy amounts.
8 Even if you have not good academic record submit an application for a scholarship.
9 Prior to closure of admission apply for a scholarship
10 some scholarship not requires specific age.

Scholarship money is directly submitted to your college that is provide to you on the basis of good academic record, extra curriculum activities, or it can be combination of both. These scholarships come from different sources and there are certain limitations imposed on these scholarships.

Average high school soccer player are not allowed to play at the college level. Competition level is very high at college level and if you are interested to play at college level then talent is necessary. Some students have a very good academic record that they have no other abilities like athletics. You should be good athlete because it is a key factor that determine the success at this level.

Another source of academic excellence scholarships is a need based scholarship. Academic records also consider in need based scholarship but financial need is a primary factor. These can be offer from schools, business organization or granted through a private endowment. Those who have less than 0000 income per year are eligible to apply for these scholarships. Don't hesitate if your parents have a higher income you should apply because you do not know what criteria they set.

You should apply for every scholarship either it is small or big. Little scholarships also add up your balance if you win several scholarships.

Ten PC Tips for Communicating with a Diverse Audience

By learning to speak to a diverse audience, you can broaden your client base transfer the learning to more people. We need to be more "PC". Were not talking "political correctness", were talking "Positively Conscious", of who is in our audience and understanding how to make people feel included. The more people feel included, the more they will listen to you, use your information and come back for more. If you offend people they will shut down and you will lose them.

1) Use words that include rather than exclude. While some women don't mind being called ladies, in a professional setting the word women is more appropriate. Be "positively conscious" of pronouns when discussing hypothetical cases. I have been inn workshops where the facilitator spoke as though all managers were "he" and all administrative support were "she". Metaphors are very effective. Remember to mix them. Don't use only sports metaphors. Have a balance. In Europe when they think of football they think of soccer. Be aware that people have different abilities. Instead of telling everyone to stand, you might say everyone who is able please stand, and have a way for others to participate in the exercise.

2) Learn the demographics of the audience before your presentation, and prepare.

3) Do not assume everyone shares your religious beliefs.

4) Look at everyone in the audience and smile at them. Speakers can have a tendency to visually relate to people who look more like them. Assume everyone wants to be valued.

5) Do not use humor that puts down any particular group. If you are not sure, get feedback from others.

6) Examine your assumptions about people who are different than you. Be open to letting go of those assumptions.

7) Do not be afraid to ask for the correct pronunciation of someone's name.

8) If someone has an accent and you can't understand them, ask them to repeat what they said slowly, because what they are saying is important to you.

9) Use methodology in your presentations to accommodate different learning styles. Visual Auditory Kinesthetic

10) Be comfortable with silence. In some cultures that can mean respect and attention. Be comfortable with direct interaction. In some cultures that can mean respect and attention. Be comfortable with saying, "I don't know."

Scrapbooking - Photos Tell the Story

Have lots of old photos lying around the house? You find one every once in a while in a book or under the bed. Occasionally, you even find those old packets from the developing with a few pictures. Why not start organizing those photos on your way to making an unforgettable scrapbook?

Many people assume that the best way to organize photos is to put them in chronological order. However, if you have many photos that are unlabeled or dated, this may be difficult. Rather than dealing with this, try organizing by theme. There are countless organizational themes including: Christmases, Vacations, Family Reunions, Children's sports teams, an overseas trip, or a specific time period (college years). Try not to make them so broad that every photo will fit in, but also don't restrict them too much.

Making a scrapbook of each theme is a great idea because you can put them together fairly rapidly-each page doesn't have to be completely unique. In fact, you want to create unity between the pages. This will save money because you can use the same colors of background pages and mix and match accessories.

Do a 'cover page' for each year or event. If you choose a 'Sports' theme, have a section for soccer, one for basketball, etc. Keep the cover page bold and simple-maybe one photo and the date and location. Have a running continuity among the cover pages will bring a nice unity throughout the book.

Themed books are easy and enjoyable to look out and they show how children grow and styles change over the years. Even visitors to your home will enjoy flipping through albums like this, whereas a chronological album might bog them down.

To help yourself stay organized when it comes to all those photos, label a few envelopes with some possible themes. Whenever you develop film or print photos, try to divide them into the proper envelopes. That way whenever you are ready to start your next scrapbook, the photos you need will be ready to go...and you won't have to search under the bed or in any books!

Long Term Home Business

Can business become boring? Can you get fed up sitting at home and dealing with sundry orders? The truth is that business will be interesting if you make it so. Likewise business will be boring if you do not bother to take the time to understand its rudiments. Working from home can seem like a nightmare for people who are used to being in the spotlight. They will effectively be required to sit in a room and ponder business strategy for all the hours that God gave, or at least half of it. This can be a big contrast from a busy office environment.

The first thing you need to do is go for a business that is one of your interests. If you are interested in soccer or Formula 1, there is absolutely no reason why you would fail to go for it when opening up your home business. If you are interested in the project then you do not need any encouragement to participate. You are also not likely to get bored. If you go for a business venture that is obviously boring to you, then it will be a tough sell. You will not be able to convince your customers about the merits of the products or the business ideas that you are pushing.

Working with home business owners involves an element of community spirit. Your customers are the people who have been living with you. They will understand your interests and you will understand their interests. It is from these shared interests that you can come up with a product that is going to keep them interested for a long time. The strategic value of your choices is supported by the elements of compromise which are inevitable in a community. The hair dressing business follows this model quite successfully.

There are also other door-to-door sales pitches that rely on the community to support one of their own. There is a sense of local patriotism which ensures that the business is unlikely to fail. Therefore you will not get bored. The business will become something of a social event. Lingerie sales tend to follow this format where housewives decide to sell to their neighbors through regular business meetings. The idea is that the community rallies around the business model and effectively ensures that it does not fail. That is the model that has worked for many people who wish to have a long term home business.

PCTV Online Reviews - Review of PC TV Over the Internet Softwares

PC on TV software is possibly the best low cost innovation that I have come across. The cheapest PC satellite TV come with an inexhaustible array of world wide TV programs from as many as 50 countries. PC TV package offers over 3000 channels from around the world at the best price and quality. The choices in are so many that its sometimes difficult to settle on one channel to watch. I personally got confused before I settled on my choice channels after purchasing the quality software.

Previously the package was selling at an astounding 0 but I was lucky to get the affordable cost of TV software for PCs at only a one time fee of $.95. I managed to save at least 0 and started streaming endless channels including Satellite Channels for baseball, football, soccer, basketball, tennis, and racing!

Channels like ESPN News, EuroSports TV, GameSports TV, WHL TV, Fox Network, and Sport Star. When you purchase the easily downloadable software and get your PC on TV, you will also access various other chanels including movies, music, Kids Channels, Shopping News, Radio Stations, Weather, Educational, and many others.

There are many other softwares but this is the one that impressed me most due to the ease of using it. To view television on your computer or laptop, you will need atleast a broadband internet connection, a Pentium II processor with at the least 333Mhz speed for easy uninterrupted viewing.

The compatible operating system for a satellite TV software include Microsoft Windows 98/ME/2000/XP. In addition your computer should have a hardware that has a sound card and a spare USB slot. To watch online satellite TV on your PC, you need to download the free media players like Windows media player, real player, or quick time player which will make your viewing easy.

To get your satellite TV software you can now easily purchase from online dealers like the one given here. This PC software beats the rest in the market hands down and the dealers offer a money back guarantee in case you are not satisfied.

Moreover there are no monthly subscriptions or deductions after the initial purchase of .95 with this package. This I found very interesting after being used to cable and other dish sat TV where you pay over 0 every month.

The cumulative money you spend over the years with the cable option is usually staggering. The TV PC software is also legal and accessible anywhere in the world-as long as you have access to the internet. This revolutionary internet satellite software works with all versions of windows and is easy to use.

Dating Guidelines For Senior Singles

The question of how to date is a major concern for both teenagers and senior single adults alike. For the senior daters, the purpose of dating is to get married.

Irrespective of one's dating experience, whether you are coming to the dating game newly or coming back after a breakup or you are an active player in the dating game park, well able to maintain several dating partners, there are great dating ideas and strategies you can use to enhance your experience.

It must be stated though that there are no hard and fast rules. All principles and techniques get better with practice. The following guidelines would help though:

1. Prepare for dating. To win in the dating game as in other games of life, you must be ready for commitment to work at your game. Think about the soccer player and all the hours he or she has to put in getting ready, training, running, trials etc. To be crowned with success in any game, feeble minded approach would never work. You have to put effort at the game - what do you want, what plans do you make, consider winning and losing as inevitable outcomes. Decide not keep playing until you win.

2. Grooming. Start a programme of looking the best you can. Get into shape by regular physical fitness activity. Follow a health programme of exercising and eating right. Pay attention to your hair grooming. Haircut and style that fit and make you feel happy and boosts your self-confidence. When you are confident, people would notice you, adore and desire to be with you.

3. Change your wardrobe. Go do some shopping and get some new wears. Rearrange your image to fit the person you think you are. Do not try to be like anybody else, just the you that you see in your mind's eye. Portray this person in the best light.

4. Establish an objective and target date. What do you want to achieve in this dating and when do you hope to reach that objective. Can you envisage marriage for you within one or two years? If so, then you have date like someone who desires marriage. This is where the need to date in a morally clean manner is critical. If you establish boundaries of morality, then it would be easy to make the other partner to make an early decision about you and your objective instead of hanging on for other reasons such as free sexual favours.

5. Spend time among support groups. Your aim is to meet other single people with a view to get a marriage partner. Stay around this group. Don't stay much around married people or those who are cynical about love and relationships. Attend social activities involving single people. Join choir groups, clubs, societies, sports events, and drama groups - any association that can help you meet the kind of people in the same shoes with you who could be prospective partners. You need to be out there to meet people.

6. Be prepared to take a break. Our best efforts do not always work out. If after making your best efforts things are not working out as you desire, you may start having dating exhaustion. Take a break and reassess and recommit. Remember, it is a game and sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. If all the soccer clubs stop playing when they lose a series of matches, the game would have been killed by this time.

7. Have fun. Prepare and do actually enjoy every bit of your dating outing for what it is - a chance to meet people and socialize. If you keep it simple and straight to the point, you have nothing to lose even when it does not come to the desired objective of marriage. What spoils our dating experiences is when we break boundaries and start partaking of activities reserved for married couples such as sexual intercourse. This is what makes breakups so painful. But if you date appropriately, whatever end you get in a dating relationship is fun and builds friendships and respect and honor for you.

8. Do not be too available. Monotony kills enthusiasm, they say. Never make yourself easily accessible to your date. Have your own life and be sure to live it while dating. We all enjoy mystery and puzzle and the adventure of the chasing game when dating. As a way of keeping up the mystery, do not have sexual intercourse with your date. The day you do, there is nothing to pursue again and the game is over. The harder the chase, the better the prize. Real love - beyond chemistry and ego - grow slowly. If you sustain the mystery, there is a chance for love to blossom and emotional bonding can be established.

How to Keep Him Interested - By Keeping the Relationship Healthy and Alive

Ladies who have a boyfriend and want to know how to keep him interested would be pleased to know that you do not need supernatural powers to keep his interest in you. There are some things you would want to know that relate to understanding how a man thinks.

Usually, after you successfully get into a relationship, you would enter the comfort zone and take things for granted. You might think that there is no need to dress your best anymore or stop behaving like a proper, mature adult. One thing you would want to do is to keep the best impression of you in the mind of your boyfriend. Keep yourself groomed and washed, and still remember to put on your best behaviour even in the most common of situations.

After that, think about bringing more excitement to your intimate lives. Some of the more obvious ways to do it is to engage in more exciting lovemaking. Males are known to have a greater sexual drive than women, and though your boyfriend does love you for who you are, Nature still causes him to desire intimate love. Picking up books on how to make love and trying out new things with him at night would bring his attention back to you and long for longer and more nights together with you. If you two have been feeling bored doing the same things over and over again every night, now would be a good time to change and impress your boyfriend further.

Give your boyfriend some space and let him do as he pleases sometimes. Your boyfriend is a human being like you, and would have things he wants to do. Do be assured that he would like to do most of the things with you, since you are his lover, but there are some things that he would also be considerate of. For example, your boyfriend may be in love with soccer (though not as much as you!) but you cannot see to appreciate it. To avoid disappointing you, he would have not force you to accompany him to a soccer match. Let him go to the match himself so that he can enjoy the many thrills of life and assure him you will not be lonely. This can greatly improve his impression of you.

The people in your boyfriend's life are important as you are. He may have put you as his top priority, but there are others in his life he must attend to, whether they are his parents or his close friends. Do your best to be on good terms with them so that when you cross paths with any of them in life, your boyfriend would not need to worry about you and his face. Furthermore, if you do get married to your boyfriend, his parents would be your parents-in-law, and getting on their good side would prove to be much more desirable.

Be determined to keep your boyfriend's heart if you truly love him. A half-hearted effort to keep him impressed and satisfied might result in him leaving you for someone better. There are many other females out there, and if he finds you unsuitable, you might not be able to keep him by your side for long.

Thinking about all these things is easier than actually doing them. It may discourage you or make you feel like giving up, but when you think about this person who shares the love with you and brings joy and happiness to your life, you would find that it is worth sacrificing a bit of yourself to keep a healthy relationship.

3 Parenting Tips For Building Character in Your Angry Kids

If 3 character tips could stop your angry child from exploding, would you use them? If so, look inside for 3 parenting ideas that are sure to help.

Temper can be a volcano blazing out of control. It blows its top without thinking. It demands what it wants or else. There's no room for reason. If your child's a volcano, you've got work to do.

When your child is calm, take time to discuss anger, its cause, and its solution.

I know you're wondering how. Before I tell you, grab a piece of paper and ask your child to draw a volcano at the top. When your child is in a good mood, discuss, write out, and memorize the 3 truths below. Those truths are to be posted on your bulletin board, wall, or refrigerator. They'll remind your child to think without exploding.

Character Tips - 3 Irrational Ideas to Discuss and 3 Truths to Teach:

Consider discussing the following irrational ideas one at a time. Ask your child to brainstorm more examples. Write out and memorize the truths that follow.

First Irrational Idea - Things have to go my way. Talk about the weather. Remember a time when your daughter wanted sunshine but it rained. Perhaps it rained during her soccer game. No matter how hard she wanted sunshine the weather didn't go away.

Tell her, "Lots of things don't go our way. When you and I get angry, we're demanding that things we can't control go our way. But we're not the King of the Universe. We don't have the power."

Brainstorm other situations that prove we're not the King of the Universe. Discuss why exploding won't help but using our gift of reason will.

Action Step - Write the truth, "Things don't have to go my way" under your child's picture of the volcano. Tell her to memorize this truth and say it often when she feels angry.

Second Irrational Idea - People have to behave the way I want them to. Discuss times when people didn't act the way your son wanted. Perhaps his teacher disciplined him when he wasn't the one who bullied the little girl on the playground. Tell him, "People don't act the way you want because they act the way they want."

Brainstorm and discuss other situations when people didn't do what he wanted, like when his sister wouldn't loan him some money.

Action Step - Write the truth, People don't have to act the way I want, on the volcano paper. Tell him to memorize this truth and say it often when he's tempted to blow his top.

Third Irrational Idea - I have to get the things I want. Discuss a time when your daughter didn't receive the birthday gift she wanted. Perhaps it was a child's guitar. Yet she survived the disappointment. Tell her, "There will be lots of times you won't get what you want. Bursting your top won't get you what you want. But it might get you in trouble."

Brainstorm and discuss other situations where she didn't get what she wanted.

Action Step - Write the truth, "I don't have to get what I want," on the piece of paper. Tell her to memorize it and calmly say it when she's upset.

Conclusion ~ Character Tips that Stop Your Angry Child from Exploding:

Be your child's model. When things go wrong for you, calm yourself aloud with one of the above truths. Discuss the 3 parenting tips and their truths whenever good examples arise. Praise your child when she or he repeats the words. If you do, you'll be turning an exploding mind into a rational mind. You'll be building character too.

How to Use Obstacle Training to Enhance Your Endurance

The Dallas Cowboys do it in the off season. Colleges offer it for their athletes and regular folk, and trainers of specific sports, such as soccer, recommend it for their players. Combat soldiers train on it before going to war...

Obstacle course training is a proven method for improving endurance and heart strength, as well as flexibility, agility and strength. What's not to love?  Obstacle course training simulates real athletic skills necessary to certain sports, but what of bodybuilders? How will they benefit? Well, static exercise in the gym isn't the only way to achieve a great physique. Being afraid to venture out of the gym is something bodybuilders suffered serious complications from in the old days. But now with people venturing out to sprint, climb stairs and do a whole host of activities that supplement pure weight training, being afraid to leave the gym isn't so much of a problem any longer.

Don't confuse obstacle course training with circuit training. You may think that combining an elevated heart rate and sprint - or even a hustle - means that any strength training you're doing on course is cancelled out. But, it's not the same thing.

Think of circuit training as weight training with a dash of aerobic boost, and think of obstacle course training as both anaerobic and aerobic training with a dash of strength. You're not trying to get your workouts in out on course - that's definitely something you should do in the gym. But, being able to use those same muscles in a set range of motion, in a range of motion that is now less predictable does several things:

Balance increases because proprioceptors that run from the back of the leg to the tip of the spine as it inserts into the skull are being worked on course. It's like squatting and leaping at the same time without threat of losing the bar and all the weights.

Squatting, jumping vertically, hurdling, bounding and other motions are the earmark of obstacle course training, all while running to make the fastest time. If you think this isn't difficult, try it sometime. You'll think people who just squat, deadlift and bench are pussies!

There are two types of obstacle courses - conditioning and confidence. Conditioning courses have lower obstacles that require quick negotiation and foot exchange. They test motor skills and build strength, conditioning and agility more slowly. The object isn't to conquer, just to get in shape. This is usually timed.

A confidence course has higher, more difficult obstacles. It provides mental confidence and tests daring. These are not run against time. But conditioning courses are the right choice for bodybuilders.

When starting obstacle course training, definitely don't run for time. In fact, don't run at all. Familiarize yourself with the kinds of hurdles, jumps and obstacles, such as walls and cargo nets, you'll be using. Also, try to hit a camp or work with someone who trains fitness competitors in obstacle course training. There are a good many tricks that pave the way for conditioning and not struggle.

Courses are only around 400 yards with about 15 to 20 obstacles. There is probably one in your neighborhood, on a military base or, if you live in California or Florida, pretty much all over the place.

Obstacles serve a single purpose and require a single type of motion - climbing, traversing, crawling, vaulting, jumping, dodging and balancing are all a part of a complete obstacle course.

Climbing provides upper body strength and core strength. Traversing provides balance and stability work, along with core strength. Crawling takes the whole body and agility. Vaulting fences and low walls requires hip flexor strength, lower back and core strength, as well as quick movement with the legs and upper body strength. Vertical jumps provides lower body and core strength. Dodging is almost all core, and requires quick foot exchange and balance. Balancing on an obstacle that is narrow and elevated, requires good hand-foot coordination and balance and requires great proprioceptive ability.

So why bother - what happens in the gym after?  For one thing, you'll find that obstacle course training will make training easier. Bounding over obstacles means that your ability to rise from a squat will be easier. You'll have strengthened your hips, low back, and legs.

Pushing off a wall means your bench and shoulder work will benefit.  You'll also have more energy and vitality in the gym - more vigor to complete exercises, and will move through workouts more rapidly. This will ultimately benefit you.

The biggest benefit beyond conditioning? You'll have increased flexibility to enable your range of motion in all exercises to increase. More range of motion, means better development. And you thought you were just a chicken with your head cut off out on course!

Soccer Coaching Courses

The following article explains everything you need to know about soccer coaching courses, what they should include, and how they can help you to achieve success as a coach.

Why Take Soccer Coaching Courses?

Soccer coaching courses are for any soccer coach who wants to improve or develop their coaching methods. They are not just for those new to coaching; offering coaches at all levels the chance to learn new skills. No matter how experienced you are, taking on board new ideas is essential in improving your team's developments.

What Do Soccer Coaching Courses Cover?

The following are just a few of the areas that soccer coaching courses cover:

Fitness -- Soccer coaching courses should include a strong emphasis on the role of physical fitness in football, and how you can help the players at your disposal to achieve this. As a bare minimum, before beginning every coaching session, you should have a warm up and a warm down at the end to prevent any injuries. You should also look to include a healthy amount of fitness training within your coaching sessions, in order to ensure that your players are in the very best physical condition possible.

Nutrition -- Knowing what your players should and should not be eating is one way you can ensure that they are in optimal physical shape. Many major soccer clubs work with dietitians, however in a smaller team, it is the responsibility of the coach to advise the team on what diet they should be keeping.

Administration -- Every successful team needs someone who is in charge of administration, and more often than not, it is the coach who takes on this role. The administration of a soccer team involves making sure that player registrations are in place and that the team is in compliance with league and governing body guidelines. The finances of the team are also something that the administrator will have to deal with.

Child Protection and Duty of Care -- If you are coaching minors, you have a duty of care to make sure that they are safe and under constant supervision at all times. Making sure that your coaching practices are in line with those outlined by the relevant child protection agencies is another challenge soccer coaches face. Soccer coaching courses for juniors will make you aware of all of the issues you need to be aware of in relation to looking after children.

Soccer Coaching Resources

Many coaching courses will provide you with a host of resources and hints and tips on how you can improve and develop as a coach. These include books, DVDs and interactive computer programs, all of which can help you to learn new coaching techniques and methods.

Now you know more about how you can be a better Soccer Coach, what not sign up for a Soccer Coaching Course, and see what you can learn, and help your players improve?

Why Golfers Are Using Pilates to Improve Their Game

Tiger Woods, Annika Sorenstam, and Camilo Villegas all will tell you that Pilates has improved their golf game. Here's why.

Let's face it, most golfers don't train for their sport like runners, or soccer players. In addition, golf stresses one side of the body more than the other, so it's easy to injure your back or become so uncomfortable that the game isn't fun anymore. Conditioning with Pilates can prevent this from happening. It's well known that Pilates improves posture and in the game of golf, maintaining proper posture during your swing and follow through, reduces the strain on your lower back and shoulders.

Statistically, after the age of 30, golfers sustain an injury every three years. After age 50 the number climbs to one per year! Many golfers have learned that conditioning with Pilates improves their game, and significantly reduces their risk of injury. The exercises that Joseph Pilates invented back in the 1920's are still the best formula for strengthening all the muscles in the body and using your "core" body for movement. The breathing and concentration that one learns with these exercises also helps your golf game.

Golfers who have taken my Get Ready For Pilates program have knocked several stokes off their game, improved flexibility in their shoulders and hips and strengthened lower back and abdominal muscles. I'll be honest with you, the first few guys who came to my class originally came to keep their wives company, but they came back because they noticed a big difference in their body AND could drive the ball farther. When you learn how to move your body properly and use your core strength to drive the ball, the results speak for themselves.

A quote attributed to Joseph Pilates "In 10 sessions you will feel the difference; in 20 you'll see the difference, and in 30, you'll have a whole new body." In relation to golf - after 10 sessions you'll notice the improvement in your game and after 20 sessions you'll be hooked on Pilates!

I recommend finding a Pilates instructor certified with one of the recognized certifying institutes (Stott, Physical Mind Institute, or Pilates Method Alliance). Check credentials before trusting your safety to an instructor. There are also "Golf Specific Pilates" instructors who specialize in improving your game. I believe that you will feel the same results in your over-all body conditioning with either option, however, your game will most likely improve quicker with a specialist.

Here's my quick tip on correcting Posture and Breathing.

Stand normally and look at your posture in a mirror. Now inhale deeply and slowly while concentrating on expanding your ribcage out to the sides. Avoid raising your shoulders up around your ears and especially don't suck in your abs and force your lower back out. I know this seems counter-intuitive because we all grew up thinking that we were supposed to suck our abs in, but it actually causes strain on your lower back. We're supposed to have the natural little curve in our lower backs! Exhale slowly and completely, then, try again. Keep practicing until you see your rib cage raising slightly and expanding out to the sides. When you feel comfortable enough, try to keep your spine aligned this way for several minutes as you breathe slowly and deeply 5 counts in and 6 counts out. Notice how much more comfortable this feels than when you were wearing your shoulders as earmuffs or sucking in your abs. Your back is in proper alignment and it's easier to breathe deeply - Enjoy that fresh oxygen. Practice this every day until you make better posture a habit.

Best of Health to you all and enjoy the game!

Kids Soccer Drills - The Basics

Kids soccer drills require you to have a different approach than you use for the other elder players.

In this drill practice, you have to line up the kids on a single goal line. You will need a large number of balls. Have all the balls scattered over the field. Now, as you say, "GO", the kids have to move towards these balls, pick up the same, and put it into the goal on the opposite side. This is quite effective drill that can help the kids improve their dribbling and shooting skills.

In this drill game, you have to put the kids in a queue at one corner of the field. Count till three and as soon as you say, "GO", the kids have to run towards you. While they are running towards you, they all have to try to steal the ball from the one who is kicking it off. Now, as soon as you say, "STOP", the one who was kicking the ball off will pass to one of the teammates.

Kids will love this drill practice game. In this technique, the coach should divide the team in two lines, and have them stand in a queue at not less than forty feet from the goal post. Place the goalkeeper on the goalpost.

If your team has more than one goalkeeper, you should use one goalkeeper in each session. When you repeat the practice, you should change the goalkeeper, giving the other goalkeeper an opportunity to practice the same. Your position will be somewhere between the two queues of the players.

Toss the ball to one of the queues of the players and instruct them to shoot or pass the ball with just one touch. When any player shoots the ball off to the goalkeeper, the goalkeeper will pass the ball back to you.

It is important in the game of soccer to keep the control of the ball and get it forward, passing all the opponents. This drill practice requires two players - one defender and one who gets the ball forward, passing the defender. Allow some point system. For example, if the defender gets the ball, he will earn one point.

Overall, these kids soccer drills can certainly help you make a team that will win you matches.

The Cost of Maid Service

With today's fast-paced lifestyle, it is not uncommon to encounter people who seem to zip from one place to another, juggling an endless string of commitments, appointments, meetings and activities and multi-tasking everything else in between. It's almost comical how we even find time to be able to do the things that we want to do in life. In this mad rush to accomplish everything in 24 hours, people tend to get burnt out or end up taking things for granted. Like house cleaning. More and more people do not have enough time on their hands after work and all other daily affairs to tend to the upkeep of the household. As such, we find that the trend these days is for people to rely on maid services.

Responsibilities

In response to this demand, plenty of companies have been put up to address this growing need for maid services. National chains like Merry Maids and the Maid Brigade help families, parents and other homeowners find suitable cleaning services to help take care of cleaning concerns.

Maid services offer routine upkeep of homes wherein clients can opt to have personnel clean up at certain times of the day for x number of days per week. Maid services can also help clean up on short notice when emergency situations arise.

Cost

What exactly does it cost to available of maid services? Cleaning a house is not easy. Nor is it a fun chore. It is laborious and physically demanding, yet personnel who take care of these dirty jobs are usually thorough and are able to perform their cleaning tasks well. They are also compensated commensurately.

The going rate for maid service these days is usually to for a 2,000 square foot home with 3 bedrooms. More often than not, cleaning jobs in homes like these would take around half a day. This is frequently the case and is used as the baseline for all other services. Bigger homes with more rooms will definitely cost more.

Some cleaning services charge more for homes wherein toys and laundry have not been picked up. This is because maid services usually focus on the more rigorous tasks of cleaning, scrubbing, mopping and wiping. Tasks that can easily done by the household members should be done themselves.

Now we know the cost of maid service, but what exactly is it worth? Hiring someone to clean up your home, if you can afford it, is worth more than just the dollars you might be shelling out. Hiring a cleaning service to do the dirty jobs at home - literally - means more time freed up from your already hectic daily schedule. It means being able to attend your daughter's recital or your son's soccer match; it means being able to attend concerts and parties and in general choosing to spend the time that you probably allot for house cleaning by engaging in more fulfilling and enjoyable activities.

So for those who are willing and able to avail of cleaning service, it will probably be one of the most rewarding decisions of your life.

Factors to Consider When Purchasing Portable Basketball Goals

Have you ever wondered where today's portable basketball hoops came from? Well, they apparently started off as baskets used to haul peaches. Some creative person nailed two of the baskets to the opposite sides of a gym, and the set up was born. Originally, the basketball was really just a soccer ball. So who was the brain behind this invention? His name was Dr. James Naismith, and he can take credit for inventing one of the most popular sports on the globe.

That was in the 1860s in Massachusetts. Part of the reason for Naismith's invention was the need for some type of indoor sporting activity that could be done during the winter when it was too cold outdoors. But we've definitely come a long way from those peach baskets. The portable basketball hoops of today are definitely more varied and substantial.

If you've decided to purchase one, you need to think about the backboard material. Generally, you can choose from wood, glass, or acrylic. The latter two are the most common materials used on these systems. You'll also notice a difference in the size of the backboards: regulation is 72 X 42 while most school gyms use 40 X 60 backboards.

Keep in mind that glass backboards can be dangerous, so acrylic might be the better choice. You can find these in a number of different shapes, including fan-shaped, semi-circular, and square. You can find portable basketball hoops in an array of colors, sizes, and even team-themes. You just need to pick the one that appeals to you and your basketball players.

Another factor is the rim. You can find breakaway or classic rims. With the breakaway rim, the spring mechanisms allow it to pop back up or move when you're dunking or making a shot. The classic version does not have any flexibility because it lacks those spring mechanisms. Also, make sure you choose a rim that will work for your portable basketball hoop.

Yet another consideration is the height adjustment. As your family gets older and taller, you may find that being able to adjust the height of the hoop is something you want. You can adjust the height in one of two ways: through a pneumatic system or with a crank. The former is going to be more expensive and will offer more control over the height adjustment while the latter is going to be last longer and be more affordable. Depending on your budget, choosing an adjustable basketball hoop system could be a smart investment.

Additionally, you need to think about the way the hoop is going to be mounted and which type of pole you prefer. Poles are available in 1 to 3 pieces, but they also come in a variety of shapes and sizes. You want to make sure the mounting is going to work for where you wish to place the portable basketball hoop. Also, remember that you will need to add water or sand to the pole to increase stability.

Another good idea is to think about who is making the portable basketball hoop. Some companies are simply not as reliable as others. Shop around, read consumer reviews, learn as much as possible about the warranties being offered. Then let those factors figure into your purchasing decision. You won't regret the extra effort.

Appreciative Coaching - The Power of Positive Self Talk

One of the biggest challenges that young soccer players face is the issue of inner dialogue or self talk. By this I mean the inner narrative that goes through players had unconsciously or somewhat consciously as the game unfolds in front of them. A lot of things go into what a player here since I better head. Depending on their background and upbringing and culture and the nature of your coaching, they can hear very different things going on and this will have an important impact on how they play the game and how they experience the game as they continue to develop.

If your coaching style is aggressive and judgmental and directed towards the person, it would not be surprising for the player self talk to also be aggressive and judgmental. This can create feelings of intimidation and pressure on the field. This would make it difficult for the player to relax and enjoy the game and to be in the kind of creative mood that is ideal for expressing themselves on the field.

We can affect the self talk in a couple of important ways. I consider to be one of the most important coaching obligations especially with younger players to help them develop the inner resources that enable them to deal with the pressures of the game and their life.

The first thing you can do is provide the player a set of easily remembered words to use as they tried to make sense of the very fluid game. Phrases like "we clear the ball wide and up the side", repeated often in practice and during games and during question-and-answer sessions make it easy for the player to remember what to do in that tactical situation. Consistency, repetition and memorable phrases give your players the tools they need to shape their own internal dialogue.

The next important thing you can do is to set the tone for how to approach the results of their efforts. Remember that the game of soccer is so dynamic and volatile that our plans rarely come off without a hitch. We should expect the ball to take funny bounces and for other players to make surprising plays. Our mindset should be one of positive initiative, trying to do the best we can and then accepting the results, and moving onto the next play without being judgmental. In this way we have an opportunity to help our players seize the moment and enjoy the beautiful game.

Self talk is an important part of the young players emotional resilience and personal development. It's a psychological part of the game that coaches should pay special attention to.

Soccer Is Fun - Most Popular Game in the World and Burns A Lot of Fat and Calories

Soccer is fun. It is in my opinion the most fun ball game every invented. Why do I think so? because it is also the most popular game in the whole world. People love to have fun, they want excitement, and soccer delivers these two wants in big doses. But soccer is a game that is made of stop and go motions. And these stop - go motions are designed to burn tones of fat and calorie.

If you look at all professional soccer players you see ripped individuals who are very healthy and fit. These are not body builders, as body builders are not very flexible and fast people so they will make crap soccer players. Body builders are also not necessarily fit enough to play the game. Soccer players train to be fast and fit enough to run across the field for 90 minutes, sometimes even longer than that.

It is Not Only About Running Non-stop, it is Also About Being Fit

So I am not saying that if you play soccer you would have to run for 90 minutes flat, you would rather run and stop, then run again and stop. This type of movement is called stop - go movement or other wise - burst of exertion followed by a recovery period. When you do that, you form a system in your body that will constantly burn fat and calories inside your body providing you keep this type of activity 3-4 times a week. Professional soccer players train and play more than 4 times a week.

Diet is A Critical Factor in Keeping Fit and Ripped

Any professional player out there who will train 4-5 times a week and then eat junk food like pizza, chips, burgers and other junk food will never keep fit and be slim. His or her performance on the field will not be of a professional player.

My soccer team in Israel - Hapoel Tel Aviv Won its first ever Champions league game in history. This was also the very first significant win on a big team from Europe in Israeli soccer history. Hapoel won 3-0 Benfica Lisbon from Portugal. What a great defeat. Although this win came too late as it will not give us a ticket to the next stage, it is still a great win. OK, enough with that, I just had to tell you all that because I am still really excited.

Ian Rush - Liverpool FC Legend

Ian Rush was a true Liverpool legend, and he remains Liverpool's highest goal scorer to this day, making 660 appearances for the reds and scoring 346 goals, this tally may never be surpassed. The one word to describe Ian Rush would be brilliant.

Welshman Rush, was born in 1961 and began his playing career with Chester City in 1979, establishing himself in the first team and becoming a regular goal scorer, he made 34 appearances for Chester, scoring 18 goals. His performances attracted the interest of several clubs, including Liverpool. Manager Bob Paisley paid a record fee at that time of £300,000 to bring Rush to Liverpool at the end of the 1980 season.

Rush's first season at Liverpool only saw him make a few first team appearances and he played mainly for the reserves, it is reported that he was unhappy and even asked for a transfer away from Liverpool, Bob Paisley persuaded him to stay and to fight for a first team place.

During the 1981-82 Rush established himself in the first team and scored 30 goals in 49 appearances, helping Liverpool to win the Championship and to win the League Cup, when he scored against Tottenham. Ian Rush was now loved by the Liverpool fans and feared by every team he played against.

Rush scored several goals against local rivals Everton, notably scoring four as Liverpool beat Everton 5-0 in November 1982, a record for a Merseyside derby.

The 1983-84 season was possibly Rush's best season for Liverpool, he scored 47 goals as he helped Liverpool win the League title, European Cup and League Cup, he also became the first British player to win Europe's Golden Boot award and player of the year award.

Liverpool fans were shattered in 1987 when Rush signed for Italian side Juventus, after again scoring more than 40 goals in one season. His departure was short lived and he returned to Liverpool the following season after failing to settle at Juventus, being famously quoted as saying "It was like living in a foreign country"

On his return to Liverpool, Rush faced strong competition for his place from the likes of Peter Beardsley and John Aldridge, but he continued to score regularly and the 1989-90 season saw Rush win his fifth League title with Liverpool, scoring 18 times in 36 games.

Other highlights in Rush's illustrious career included a third FA Cup winners medal in 1992 when he scored Liverpool's second goal in a 2-0 win against Sunderland. Rush finished as Liverpool's top goal scorer during the 1992-93, 1993-94 seasons, and he collected his fifth League Cup winners medal in 1995.

Ian Rush finally left Liverpool on a free transfer in 1996, and he will always remain a true Liverpool Legend.

What Do I Do If I Injure Myself Playing Sports?

We all know how important it is to stay active and keep our bodies in tip-top shape. One of the most enjoyable ways to do this is by playing sports. However, what happens when efforts to have fun and stay fit result in an injury, regardless of how young or old you may be?

Well, the first step you need to take is to try to prevent injuries from happening in the first place. Always wear proper protective equipment, even if you're just playing soccer in the backyard. You should also be sure to stretch out before any physical activity to prevent muscle strain, cramps, and other complications.

Always pay attention to the signals your body sends you whenever you are playing. If you are out of shape, one of the worst things you can do is overexert yourself, so if you begin feeling shaky, thirsty, or nauseated, then take a break, which is a good policy even for the experienced athlete.

When you're off the court, field, or pitch, you still need to pay attention to your body. Aches and pains are often a sign that something is beginning to go wrong, so go to your doctor if you suspect that something is amiss. Don't wait for it to go away, as this will likely make it worse.

There may be a time when you have sustained an injury and require immediate medical attention. If this is the case for your situation, then do your best to immobilize the affected area to prevent further damage. Depending upon the extent of the injury--if there is severe bleeding, excruciating pain, and/or a broken bone--you may want to call an ambulance to take you to the emergency room.

If the area is swelling, then apply ice or improvise with a bag of frozen vegetables. The cold will combat the effects of inflammation. You may also want to take an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen or acetaminophen, unless you're allergic or you think the pills will interfere with another prescription drug you are taking.

Your primary care physician will be helpful to you, but for long-term healing, you will want to see a specialist in sports medicine NJ can offer or one in your area. They will be able to recommend and provide the best round of treatment, along with referring you to qualified physical therapists and massage therapists that can help you recover as quickly as possible.

Be sure to follow their instructions and advice closely, as not doing so can keep you off the field for even longer--or, in the worst-case scenario, you could do permanent damage to your body, and no one wants that!

Why Me?

Just before the end of 2006, lying on my desk surrounded by the clutter of my daily mail, was my latest edition of Time magazine. It was their Christmas issue, the one that everyone who, whether or not they read Time, cannot wait to be published. Thereby, finally solving the mystery and discovering, after all the speculation by their readers, other media sources and competitors, who will be chosen as "Person of The Year" for 2006.

As I quickly looked at the cover, a sudden wave of excitement came over me. I felt like a child who just discovered a new puppy under the Christmas tree. There it was in living color shining on a piece of three by five inch Mylar, my face. It was I. I was chosen as Time's "Person of the Year."

I was astonished. I felt humbled and honored. But why would they pick me? What did I do to deserve this wonderful honor? I know I did not cure some dreaded disease, find some new economic theory or save the world from oblivion. The euphoria was overwhelming. I was ecstatic. Prior to this moment the biggest thrill in my life, other than the birth of my children and grandchildren came during my first book signing after my first book was published. As a child, I was always chasing after baseball players after a game or celebrities outside of a theater seeking their autographs. Now for the first time in my life, people wanted mine. I had always wished it would be the Pulitzer. But "Person of the Year," I never even dreamed about it. Wow, what a thrill!

It did not take but a few minutes for the euphoria to wear off. I sat in my office and started to reflect after reading the article written by Lev Grossman, which explained why they had chosen "You" (a pronoun that I interpreted to mean me.) How we, who from Time's perspective is 'You,' with all the technological gadgets at our fingertips are able to scoop the newsmakers. With our camera phones, blackberry's, lap-tops and all of the other high-tech equipment, we have the capability to pass information along in nano-seconds; long before the paid professionals even are aware that it has happened. "You" are breaking the news.

Therefore, "for seizing the reins of the global media, for founding and framing the new digital democracy, for working for nothing and beating the pros at their own game, TIME's Person of the Year for 2006 is you."

I thought about this for a moment and said to myself that the brothers Grimm could not have written it better. Is that the real reason I was chosen or was Time's editors, as they sat around their conference room table brainstorming who would grace their cover, may have suddenly been overcome by a wave of political correctness. Did they chose 'you' so they would not be labeled as hypocrites? Think about it. Time has been singing the praises of political correctness for years. I cannot remember a recent issue that they published that did not have some politically correct overtones in it.

Political correctness has gotten so far out of hand, that I am afraid to speak extemporaneously in public anymore without having a battery of lawyers and a representative from the ACLU at my side. Political Correctness has taught us that everyone is a winner. Students are allowed to repeat exams in school if they fall below the grade. Many schools have done away with winners and losers. In some schools they have abolished failing grades. You can have as many chances as you need to get the right answer.

Students in many schools are marked wrong with a "Purple Pen" not red. Red is a harsh negative color - and negativity does not belong in our schools, the experts claim. Red became that way because of what it stood for- failure. How long will it take Purple to stand for failure? What will we do then, spend another million to discover it should be changed to Yellow? Maybe we will start to report failing companies on the NYSE and NASDAQ as showing more purple ink on their books than black. Most schools will not tell a student they have failed. The new catch phrase is "Temporarily Academic Deficient." After school, every child is allowed to join an organized sports team, such as Soccer, Little League or Junior Hockey, no matter what their athletic abilities are. When I was twelve-years-old, I tried out for my neighborhood little league team. My athletic abilities were not up to the team's standards. Therefore, I did not make the team. Every team member today, gets a trophy even the 15th place team in a 14-team league. Everyone is a winner; there are no losers.

Just recently in Needham, Massachusetts, a local school district did away with the reporting of a high school honor roll. It has become politically incorrect for students who do not study hard to feel different from those who excel. Honor students will no longer be recognized. Everyone is equal. Therefore, in the name of political correctness we are turning our future generations into consistent winners. From the time they enter school in kindergarten until they graduate college, they will always be a winner. That bears no resemblance to anything in real life. There are always winners and losers. We do not expect our professional sports teams to win every game. Someone has to lose. It almost appears that competitiveness is becoming politically incorrect.

Time has shown me, time after time, no pun intended, that they believe that this new proclamation on political correctness that has overtaken America over the past few years is a move in the right direction.

What happens when the winners we have contrived in the name of political correctness lose their first job? What happens to a winner if that person has never lost? How long will it take depression to set in? If you do not learn how to handle failure early on in life and turn it around, you are not going to learn it when you are twenty-five. The pharmaceutical companies must love it. Every year they produce a supply of new anti-depression drugs. If I were a clinical psychologist today, I would franchise depression clinics.

Therefore, with this in mind, and Time magazines position on political correctness, It did not take me long to realize that I was chosen as Time's, "Person of the Year" in the name of political correctness. You see Time did not want me to feel like a loser. Therefore, it is my belief that in the name of political correctness (they will never admit it), I was chosen.

I now have a new entry on my resume. Under personal accomplishments it reads, 2006 Time Magazine's "Person of the Year." Thank you Time.
